Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2026 election, Dr Wole Oluyede, has pledged to deliver 90 per cent of the votes in Ekiti for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Oluyede made the pledge on Tuesday at a mobilisation rally in Ado-Ekiti, organised by his newly formed group, Oluyede Progressives Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda, convened to galvanise support for Tinubu’s re-election.
He said the group would embark on a grassroots door-to-door campaign across the 16 local government areas of the state to secure an overwhelming victory for the President, despite being a member of the opposition party.
“We are going to win this election with 90 per cent. We are going to work hard to make sure that we deliver 90 per cent for him,” Oluyede said.
“These people are already committed. They are going to go door to door in all the 16 local governments to canvass for the President and, on election day, they will stand by him,” he added.
Oluyede, who contested the June 20 governorship election on the PDP platform, thanked the PDP leadership in the state for supporting his decision to work for Tinubu and urged the President to reciprocate by prioritising Ekiti’s development.
Reacting, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, described Oluyede’s move as an act of patriotism and commitment to peace and development, stressing that Tinubu’s re-election is existential for Ekiti.
“I am grateful for your generosity of spirit, your love for Ekiti and your commitment to peace,” Oyebanji said. “There has never been a President, living or dead, that has been so good to the people of Ekiti State as this.”
The governor said the alliance between PDP and APC supporters for Tinubu showed that the 2027 election must be approached collectively, urging members of both parties to hold joint meetings at ward and local government levels without rivalry, in the spirit of unity envisioned by Ekiti’s founding fathers.
“Ekiti will be 30 years old in two days. What is happening today speaks to the aspirations of the founding fathers when they were fighting for state creation — that we must remain united irrespective of political differences,” Oyebanji said.
