The Nasarawa State Police Command says it has recorded another significant operational success following the rescue of a kidnapped victim and the arrest of 11 suspected armed robbers in separate operations within the state.

This was contained in a press statement made available to journalists in Lafia, the state capital, on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel.

According to him, one Favour Innocent (female) of Ajyga Village, who was kidnapped from her residence on 03/08/2026 at about 2100hrs, was successfully rescued on 04/08/2026 at about 0800hrs at Nunku Forest Area, Akwanga Local Government Area, through the combined efforts of the police, local hunters and youths of the community.

He noted that following her rescue, the police conveyed the victim to the Primary Health Centre, Andaha, where she received medical attention, was treated, and discharged in good condition, adding that she had since been reunited with her family and investigation was ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Similarly, SP Nansel explained that on 04/09/2026 at about 0200hrs, information was received that a guest house located at Area One, Masaka, was invaded by armed robbers, where lodgers were robbed of valuables, including mobile phones and cash.

He said the Commissioner of Police immediately ordered the deployment of a police patrol team to the scene, which forced the suspects to flee upon sighting the patrol van. The team pursued them to their hideout, where nine adult suspects and two minors were arrested.

The PPRO said, “The adult suspects are Auwal Yunusa, 20; Saltsu Kabiru, 20; Umar Saleh, 22; Abubakar Hassan, 26; Musa Yahaya, 20; Seth Aaron, 20; Victor Hyelanpali, 19; Gift Ezra, 20; and Suleiman Abdullahi, 18.

“The two minors are James Ayuba, 16, and Fahad Abubakar, 15.

“Recovered from the suspects were one locally fabricated revolver gun, four cutlasses, one fabricated cutlass, two knives, two bedsheets, eight SIM cards, three head warmer caps, two scissors, counterfeit foreign currencies, and original documents belonging to one Kabiru Abubakar (male).”

He, however, noted that efforts were being intensified to arrest other fleeing suspects and recover the remaining stolen items.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, had directed the DPO, Masaka Division, to trace the parents of the two minors or arraign them before the appropriate Juvenile Court in accordance with the law.

He said, “He further directed the immediate transfer of the adult suspects to the SCID, Lafia, for further investigation and prosecution.

“CP Shetima commended the police personnel, local hunters and community youths for their cooperation and support, particularly in the successful rescue of the kidnapped victim.

“He assured the public that the Command remains committed to sustained intelligence-led operations and effective community partnership to combat crime across the state.”

The police spokesperson further urged members of the public to continue providing the police with timely and credible information to assist in preventing crime, rescuing victims, and apprehending criminal elements.
